The Park, Dinner and a Movie

Tree TunnelOn Saturday Anna and I explored the northern side of Central Park. There’s a number of cool trails and ponds to see. The highlight was certainly the Conservatory Garden at Fifth Avenue and 105th St. There are a ton of cool fountains and flowers to admire.

On our way home, we walked through Morningside Park, which was extremely busy with birthday parties and families grilling out. There’s a also a pond in Morningside that is absolutely chock full of turtles.

Later we met up with two old friends from high school and went to dinner at Havana Central. There I had the most delicious mojito I’ve ever had (also the most expensive at $10…ouch).

The nightcap was a trip down to the Forum Theater in lower Manhattan for a screening of The French Connection, a movie that was filmed in New York City. The film stars Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider as two hard-nosed cops trying to make a big narcotics bust.

I think we’ll be revisiting the Forum for the upcoming movie “I’m Not There,” a movie about the life of Bob Dylan.

What’s really interesting is that six actors will play Dylan at various stages in his life: Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Ben Whishaw.
