A zoo, new friends
Sorry for the long delay between my posts. I have a fear of being too boring on my posts, so I tend not to write. I will try to over come this fear in the next two years. Hopefully, soon I will be a posting madwoman with long detailed boring events written up for you non-stop.
A lot has gone on in the week and a half since I last wrote. As you can see from the spectacular video montage that Drew posted, he and I went to the Bronx Zoo. (Thanks Alaina, Dani, Lindsey and Steve!!) It was a lot of fun. We were able to check out all of the exciting attractions the zoo offers including the skyfari, the Asia Monorail, the Bug Carousel and the Gorilla exhibit.
I think my favorite was the bug carousel. I mean, we got to sit on giant bugs, and go round in circles for a good five minutes, how could that not be awesome?
I had some very boring orientations I had to attend early last week (and again this week, but that will be for another post). But a highlight of the week was hanging out with Drew and some of my new found friends on Wednesday night.
One of the guys in my orientation group also lives in our building and a girl from orientation who lives in Westchester was crashing at his place for the night since she has early Thursday morning classes. They came up to our apartment, which I have to say I was pretty excited about as they were our first visitors!! I had made Drew some chocolate cake (a birthday present) that day so the apartment smelled all home-y, I was pretty proud.
Brandon (the guy) and Alli (the girl) had been drinking a bit when they came up and they decided that we needed to get more liquor. So, Drew and I accompanied them to a very (how can I put this tactfully?) …interesting liquor store north of our apartment (which is pretty much Harlem). The place is completely encased in bullet proof glass inside and out and the two attendants only spoke Spanish. Luckily, Alli is fluent in Spanish, so she and Brandon were able to get what they needed and Drew found a $5 bottle of champagne.
We ended up hanging out in Brandon’s apartment on the first floor of the building. I must say Drew and I were pretty lucky to get the apartment we did. Brandon’s place is very LOUD and you feel no privacy from the street. It was a fun night though filled with some good getting to know and completely random topics of conversation. (I think we all decided we were going to attend Brandon’s Great Grandpa’s birthday party at some point. If it happens, that should be fun.)
