Mawage

Mawage, mawage is what bwings us togeva today.

Its been a month since Drew and I were married in the beautiful Cathedral of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. So, I felt I should comment on how the first month of married life has been.

First of all, I must say it still feels very surreal, as though it didn’t really happen and we aren’t really married. The wedding day was fabulous. But, it was over so fast, it seemed like a dream (a dweam wif in a dweam). And then the week between the wedding and moving to NYC just seemed like a trip to Sioux Falls. And these past few weeks we have been living in New York City, where it seems like we are just visiting. However, I just received my New York State Driver’s License in the mail today. It had my new last name and my new address on it. I guess this is for real.

All that said, being married for this past month has been great. I think one of Drew and my main problems when we were dating was the lack of time we were able to spend together (especially when he didn’t have a car). Now we get to hang out all the time and its wonderful. Even when we are not doing something together, he is just here and I love it. Its great to look up from my books and see him sitting at his desk and realize that we are in OUR apartment, not my place, not his, ours.

Also, he is ridiculous. I can’t tell you how many times he will just get up and start dancing his crazy dance to random songs. Its so hilarious, I love it. I have tried numerous times to get recordings of these dance parties, but have not succeeded….yet. I will try to get a video posted up here soon. (In the meantime, go to the vimeo link. There you will find a great Drew singing Nelly video.)

We are still working out a few kinks here and there. Our apartment is small and can get really messy really fast. We are working on learning good clean up skills. Also, waking up in the mornings is pretty rough. I can’t stand the alarm that he uses on his phone, especially when he hits the snooze 4 or 5 times. And, he won’t wake up to my alarm clock. We will have to do some experimenting with what wakes him up. Maybe cold water?

Also, I have the habit of eating ice. Drew does not like this habit, he thinks its bad for me. I suppose he is right, so I am trying to cut back on my ice habit (at least when he is at home :) ).

I am sure more things will come to light that we will have to work on through out this next month and year and the rest of our lives. I am not worried though. Since we are able to make each other laugh and are able to laugh at ourselves, I think we should be okay.
