Having a Good Time With Corn Mo

We started off Saturday by doing one of the things I hate most in this world: weekend grocery shopping. I am a firm believer that full-fledged trips to the supermarché should be reserved for le semaine (also a firm believer in making this a multi-lingual blog).

Needless to say I was in a bad mood as we returned to the apartment. Anna worked on grad school stuff (from what I can tell is just a lot reading and building dioramas) and I worked on the Internets (favoriting YouTube vidoes and maintenancing my Facebook profile).

So, when day turned to night, I decided that business needed to turn to party. I ran across an event that really sparked my interest: Stop, Drop, Rock & Roll: A Benefit Concert for the Victims of the Southern California Wildfires. It was time we spread our wings and left the safety of Manhattan for the wilderness of Brooklyn.

A few subway rides later, we were across (or rather under) the East River and arrived at Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn, a few blocks from our final destination, Galapagos Art Space.

Corn MoFast forward through two crappy bands from San Diego (excluding one exceptionally talented SO3 guitarist), it was finally time for Corn Mo (Jon Cunningham) to take the stage (self-described as “Guns ‘N Roses meets Queen meets show tunes on a short bus”).

Corn Mo is a true performer who has mastered the accordion and keys. He’s probably best known for his performance of Busey Boy on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

He raced through his set and gave a good show to a pretty small crowd, including an amazing cover of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.

We were having a good time.

i’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the music from my friends, the “crappy San Diego bands” SO3 and Audition Lab. however, i’m glad you were able to discern what all of us here know quite well by now, that the lead guitarist for so3, (my friend & coworker) Mike Artamonov, is exceptionally talented. Personally I enjoy all their music, but I’m glad you were at least able to appreciate his talents.

    Hey Geraets and Anna!

Anna, what kinds of diaoramas do you get to make for grad school? I wish I was making dioramas in my grad program!

Bill says you are coming home soon for Xmas–can’t wait to see you.
